Here we are – less than a week away! Friday we get head back to Texas for Christmas! We’ve been keeping a paper chain for about 38 days and it’s barely hanging over the banister since there are so few rings! The kids are very excited about Santa and getting presents – assuming they keep off the naughty list! Little Elf has been busy reporting the good, bad, and even the ugly!
Speaking of Santa – I was having a hard time finding one that was going to be easy for the kids to see without having to endure some Christmas carols or other show type thing the kids wouldn’t like – and even finding a Santa that we could see before we left. Years from now we’ll look at our Santa picture and think, “oh – that was when we lived in the UAE!” We drove to Dubai to spend the afternoon/evening and visited Santa. He was at his Austrian grotto at the WAFI – just a fancy high dollar mall. And as we’re used to we had to wait a long time! But it was worth every minute we stood there and waited. Santa talked with the kids forever – and there was even a point where I thought to myself, “Can we just leave already!” The kids even got a stuffed toy soldier too! And Santa even asked if we’d be here or in America so the kids are glad to know he can find us in Texas.
Before we went to Dubai the kids had their Christmas program at church. It was interesting as they usually are with kids – but this one was even more interesting. At some point Cole (who had lost interest and was in his own world, fell off the step he was standing on, and rolled down the other steps to the tile floor and finished off with his arms and legs in the air like a dog on their back. He recovered well and finished the program with no more issues. And of course I was recording the program but was focusing on Caralyn at this point. We couldn’t stop laughing!
We’re finishing up our trimester and ready for the 3 week break! We’re all doing exams – even the kids are having exams this week! Inshallah the week will go by fast for us all!

If that face doesn't look guilty...
Cole found a friend @ the mall while we waited for Santa. They traded toys!

You know how ever city in America has an MLK Blvd - this sign is probably their version. Do you know the significance of the date?

At Dubai Mall they have these dancing fountains. What's very interesting is that every show (about every 25 minutes) is different with different music.
Love this photo!
This was a silly picture - they said this one was for PePe!
